FAQs

Corporate cards are company-issued payment cards that let employees spend on behalf of the business, with the company (not the individual) responsible for the balance. Unlike a personal card, modern corporate cards add a software layer: real-time spending limits, merchant and category controls, and automatic expense coding.

Ramp pairs the scale of a proven North American platform with a product built for Canadian workflows. Canadian businesses get CAD and USD cards on a single login, automatic HST/GST/PST/QST capture and coding, and native two-way sync to QuickBooks Online, Xero, Microsoft Business Central, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct in CAD.

Eligibility requires at least one Canadian, US, or UK-registered entity to apply. Most registered Canadian businesses with a Business Number (BN) and a linked Canadian bank account are eligible. Cards are underwritten on the business itself, so there's no personal guarantee required.

Yes. Ramp offers Canadian businesses both CAD and USD corporate cards on a single login. CAD cards are available as physical cards with chip and tap and as virtual cards. USD cards are virtual only, useful for paying US-priced software, advertising, and services.

No separate accounts, no separate logins, no manual reconciliation between currencies.

Yes. Ramp issues Canadian businesses both physical cards with chip and contactless and virtual cards. Virtual cards are useful for managing online subscriptions, software, and vendor payments.

You can issue a unique virtual card per vendor or per project with its own spending limit. Physical cards work for in-person purchases like travel, meals, and office supplies. Both card types feed into the same dashboard with the same controls and reporting.

Ramp's automated accounting software captures and codes HST, GST, PST, and QST on transactions using OCR, no manual line-by-line entry. When an employee swipes a card or submits a receipt, Ramp reads the receipt and identifies the tax amount and type. It then maps everything to the correct tax codes in your accounting software.

This works across QuickBooks Online, Xero, Microsoft Business Central, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct. Instead of hand-coding provincial tax at month-end, your books stay coded in real time.

For Canadian businesses, a corporate card does more than pay for things—it removes manual finance work. The main benefits include:

  • Automatic expense coding (including HST/GST/PST/QST capture, so provincial tax isn't entered line by line)
  • Real-time spend controls set per employee, vendor, or category
  • Direct sync to QBO, Xero, Microsoft Business Central, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct so the books close in days instead of weeks

Issuing CAD and USD cards on one login also means cross-border spend on US software or ads stops living in a separate account. The net effect is less reconciliation, faster close, and clearer visibility into where the business is spending.

Ramp offers two plans for Canadian businesses. The Free plan is CA$0 per user per month while the Plus plan is CA$15 per user per month (with a 30-day free trial available) and adds a platform fee based on team size.
