Introducing our members

Bart Davis, CEO and Co-Founder, 512Financial

Bart began his career with the PwC Assurance practice, but shifted to providing fractional accounting/CFO services in 2014. After helping guide and scale three clients through operational challenges and successful acquisitions, Bart launched 512Financial with co-founder Joel Trammell in January 2022. Bart has been a CPA in Texas since 2014, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Accountancy from Trinity University. Away from the office, you can find him spending time with his wife and daughters, as well as playing soccer and tennis.

Geniene B. Scherer, CPA, MBA, Senior Manager, Abdo  

As a technology and data solutions leader, Geniene is passionate about helping clients use data and technology to transform and elevate the finance function and their organizations. Whether it’s facilitating a conversation about data, understanding challenges around existing processes and financial accounting systems, or helping design and lead the implementation of the chosen software solution, she works alongside clients through the entire process. Geniene also leads the Sage Intacct practice for Abdo. When she is not at work, Geniene is enjoying time with family and friends and exploring this beautiful country and world.

Matthew May, Co-Founder and President, Acuity

Matthew May is the President of Acuity, a cloud-based bookkeeping and accounting practice. A self-described recovering auditor, these days Matthew can be found sharing his accounting expertise on the social channels as @theTechCPA. In addition, he is the CEO of VERIFYiQ, a technology company creating the future of quality control and practice management for accountants. Matthew also volunteers in the Georgia technology community: he serves on the boards of Atlanta Technology Angels, a non-profit group focused on connecting capital and entrepreneurs, and Venture Atlanta, the largest venture capital conference in the southeast.

Julia Misaki, Controller & Director of Client Experience, Attivo Partners

Julia started her career in accounting 20 years ago and has focused on technology startups for the last nine years. She enjoys working with our clients to establish accounting operations systems and processes based on best practices. As the Director of Client Experience, she leads initiatives to build great customer relationships from inception of onboarding through 90-day review.  She also has the distinction of being Attivo employee #1.

Eric Thomas, Partner, Armanino

Eric is responsible for the growth of Armanino’s Business Outsourcing Services practice. He has focused his career on helping companies outsource their back-office functions for greater effectiveness. Prior to Armanino, he worked in the government contracting space in corporate accounting and finance roles. There, he was responsible for integrating acquisitions, liaising with DCAA, and handling accounting operations. Earlier in his career he led the successful outsourcing of AP to an onshore provider and database administration to an offshore provider.

Matthew West, M.A, Partner / Director of Solution Sales Leaders, Creative Planning Business Services

Matthew brings over 27 years of experience in professional accounting technology, advisory and marketing to Creative Planning, a wealth management and business consulting firm. Previously, Matthew worked for CPA.com (AICPA) Client Accounting Services (CAS) as a Senior Account Executive & CAS Workshop Facilitator, where he consulted and advised top 100 accounting firms in the country on topics such as sales and use tax, audit technology and CAS. Currently he leads Creative Planning’s Solution Sales Leaders team in the scoping and recommendations of services and technology to best serve new and existing client engagements.

Alex joined Kruze Consulting in 2017 as their 10th employee and played a pivotal role in its growth to over $25 million in annual revenue. Alex is a trusted advisor to many founders and operators at early and growth-stage startups, and works closely with fintech industry founders, operators, and channel partners to advise on product strategy. Brett Wherry, Director, Bookkeeping Connect, PwC

Brett has focused his career on working with entrepreneurs and executives to translate their accounting data into useful and actionable business insights. In his role with PwC Bookkeeping Connect, he brings small and medium businesses a strategic advantage through tech-enabled outsourced accounting. Brett started his career in assurance at PwC, and prior to returning, spent a decade as an internal Controller and outsourced CFO for the private sector. His current role includes leading the Intacct SIAP practice at PwC and leveraging connected technologies like Ramp to drive efficiency to his team and clients.

Zunie Nguyen, Founder and CEO, Yogi CPA 

Zunie leads Yogi CPA, a fully remote tax and CFO consulting firm with a mission for financial mindfulness. She was awarded Innovative Practitioner of The Year in 2021 by CPA.com and serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Digital CPA Conference. A CPA for over nine years, Zunie started her early career at the Big Four, navigating external audit, consulting, and investment advisory roles. Originally from Vietnam, Zunie is actively involved in the Asian community in California, New York, and global professional network. She is passionate about yoga, having completed 200-hour yoga teacher training and taken over 600 yoga classes, and loves travel, music, and meditation experiences.
