Mastering startup fundamentals: tax, legal, and fintech stack

Alex has 20 years of experience in the world of tax, accounting, payroll and finance. He is able to help guide and advise companies from the beginning to when the companies are ready and able to scale and making sure that systems are in place not just to solve issues for today but also down the road. As the company continues to grow, Alex has deep expertise in multi-state tax planning and strategic planning from his experience at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, PwC and a $42 Billion dollar global hedge fund.

Andrew is a business attorney and advisor that works with high-growth, disruptive private companies through all stages of their lifecycle, from formation to exit. His practice focuses on counseling clients on incorporation and organizational matters and corporate governance and strategy and leading them through a variety of transactions, including angel, seed, venture capital and growth equity financings as well as mergers and acquisitions. He also regularly counsels venture capital funds and other institutional investors in connection with their investments and other portfolio company matters. Before joining Cooley, Andrew was an associate in the corporate group of a global law firm headquartered in California. Andrew obtained his law degree at The George Washington University Law School.

Adam has been building financial technology since graduating from Duke 10 years ago. He started his career as an Engineer, building payments APIs at an early-stage startup, and then moved into Product Management where he spent five years building subscription, billing, and accounting systems at Hulu. He founded a company in 2020 to help early-stage startups with billing and payments, went through YC in 2022, and today leads Ramp's international expansion efforts.
