In 2024, we set out to deliver new ways to save businesses more time and money. 12 months and 200+ updates later, we hope we’ve made finances more powerful and delightful for teams everywhere.

To count down to the new year, we asked our designers, engineers, and product managers to tell us about their favorite features and the impact they've seen.

Here’s what they shared:

10. Receipt snake

“Designing the snake game was one of my biggest highlights this year. The collaboration on it was so pure. People were excited to join forces and create the outcome together.” - Zain Khoja, Senior Product Designer

Who said finances can’t be fun? This year, we found a new way to reward folks for clossssing out their action items.

After employees complete all of their tasks in Ramp, they can click a rotating coin to play a game of Snake—made entirely of receipts. Don’t worry, players only get three lives, which helps them avoid getting utterly addicted to the game.

P.S. Press “space” after the game ends for a fun surprise.

9. A Chrome extension that autofills forms instantly

“We built the extension to help teams use Ramp in the most seamless way possible. By embedding it directly into people’s browsers and workflows, we are helping them save even more time.” - Roland Shen, Senior Software Engineer, Core Growth

To help employees stay in the zone, we added even more capabilities to the Ramp Chrome extension this year.

Now you can use it to autofill card details at checkout, upload and match receipts automatically, find in-policy travel bookings, and even get software pricing insights—all without leaving your browser tab.

8. Mobile enhancements for employees on the go

“We’ve invested a lot of work into improving the mobile app this year, especially the employee experience. I think the OCR experience of taking a picture of a receipt and turning it into a reimbursement is very magical." - Anand Kuchibotla, Staff Software Engineer, Spend Management

The Ramp mobile app balances simplicity and powerful functionality to help employees easily complete their to-dos and continue with their day without pulling out their computers.

We added the ability for people to add their personal bank account info for reimbursements and track GPS mileage. Managers can also get real-time notifications of new bills and approve them via the app to unblock their team.

7. Expenses that (practically) submit themselves

“Our North Star vision is for employees to swipe their Ramp card—and they’re done. As an employee, you should never have to spend extra time on spend management.” - Katie Fikke, Product Lead, Expense Management

For your busy employees, expense reports should be the least of their worries. That’s why we launched 45 improvements to make expense management dead simple:

  • You swipe your card—we send you a text.
  • You snap a picture of the receipt—we suggest a memo and automatically code it.
  • You connect Google Calendar—we provide the context.
  • You need expenses approved—we made it 30% faster.

"We use AI in Ramp to automate everything that employees hate doing. Things related to memos and receipts, and even extracting details from Google Calendar events." - Veeral Patel, Director of Software Engineering, Spend Management

6. Turbulence-free travel

“Travel makes a lot of sense for Ramp because employee trips are often the source of corporate expenses. We knew we could make this experience better and smoother. This was the inception of Ramp Travel.” - Adam Bienvenu, Senior Data Scientist, Travel

We haven’t solved flight delays—but we did launch Ramp Travel this year to make trip bookings and expense management a smoother experience for all.

Now finance teams on Ramp can really sit back and relax, knowing their travel policies are built directly into the platform that employees use to book trips. On average, teams save $145 per trip with our built-in spend controls and industry-low booking rates.

“We've evolved the travel admin dashboard to show all on-platform bookings. We released travel requests and approvals. We now have more controls within the travel policy.” - Kimia Kavanroodi, Senior Software Engineer, Travel

Likewise, employees can rest easy with Ramp acting as their personal travel concierge. It automatically keeps their bookings compliant and completes their expenses on the go.

5. Next-gen procurement

“Ramp's approach to procurement was: how can we build something super simple and delightful but still give you the utmost control?” - TK Kong, Head of Ramp Procurement

Convenience and control are at the core of Ramp Procurement

Since launching in January, Ramp Procurement has already helped finance teams catch over $50 million in overbilling errors with our three-way matching, tolerance thresholds, and automated flags.

Another benefit? 8.5x faster intake-to-pay on average, thanks to Ramp’s automated approval routing and AI that intelligently parses uploaded contracts.

4. Bill pay that can process a month of invoices in minutes

“We focused on shipping this year: W9 collection, batch payments, payment step approvals, recurring bills, importing bills, vendor controls, to name just a few of the big ones. In between, we also shipped a bunch of smaller enhancements!” - Elena Weissmann, Product Lead, Accounts Payable

This has been the most significant year for Bill Pay since launch. We made more than 20 major updates that spanned every area of the product, from automation enhancements to design improvements.

The result? More than 60% of bills on Ramp Bill Pay have been created without needing a single keystroke from finance teams. This means businesses can handle many, many more invoices—with the same headcount.

More capabilities to make bill payments faster, more flexible, and customizable are coming soon.

3. Reconcile with 100% accuracy

“In 2024, we found new ways to leverage the information that finance teams kept in their accounting systems to dramatically speed up their close” - Ale Borgonovo, Product Lead, Accounting

Ramp’s accounting automation now flags if unsynced transactions or miscategorized expenses are causing your ERP data to be out of step with your Ramp data.

New custom views to keep track of pending transactions and coding needs make it even easier to close your books. Plus, our new customizable CSV exports allow you to adjust columns before you upload Ramp data to your ERP, eliminating Excel as a go-between.

2. Actionable reports that protect your bottom line

“Being able to have so much access to data at your fingertips within Ramp is really cool. People can do all their financial analysis on Ramp, no matter what level they’re at.” - Riya Uppal, Software Engineer, Reporting

Catch department overspending in real time. Our new reports eliminate the most labor-intensive steps of reporting, so you can skip straight to acting on insights.

  • See a consolidated view of all your spend across cards, reimbursements, and ACH.
  • Filter transactions by employee, GL, category, vendor, department, and more.
  • Use compliance reports to identify top out-of-policy offenders.
  • Run process reports to see who has the most pending approvals and take steps to resolve them.

“Visualize a consolidated view of all your Ramp activity, whether it's spend, bottlenecks, or any other specific information that you want to find.” - Aditya Singh, Product Lead, Reporting

1. A new App Center for a more connected tech stack

“The App Center is where customers can discover all of the fantastic integrations that we offer with other software.” - Matt Vickers, Director, Product Management

The future of financial operations is smarter, faster, and more connected. With 200+ integrations and 75+ technology partners, the Ramp App Center helps finance teams discover the best finance tools on the market and connect them to Ramp seamlessly.

“What’s really cool is [seeing] people coming to the table with completely different ways to leverage Ramp and our APIs, in ways that we didn't imagine before.” - Teddy Riker, Product Lead, Dev API and Integrations

Automate receipts in Uber and Lyft, issue funds right from Slack, or automatically launch an Ironclad workflow as part of the purchase request process—the App Center makes this all possible. Inspired to build an integration with us? Get started here
