How do employees submit and track receipts in an international corporate card program?
Short answer
Employees attach receipts to the relevant card transaction or submit them with an out-of-pocket reimbursement. In Ramp, the receipt stays connected to the transaction or reimbursement so finance can review the supporting document and any related accounting information.
How receipt review works in Ramp
When a receipt is attached to a Ramp card transaction, Ramp can analyze the document for tax information. For out-of-pocket reimbursements, Ramp reviews the receipt after the employee submits the reimbursement.
Ramp then shows the tax-coding result based on the information available in the receipt:
- High confidence when the receipt meets the required checks
- Review recommended when the available information is reasonable but incomplete
- Manual entry when tax information is missing or cannot be reliably identified
If the tax field is editable, finance can override the suggested tax code or amount before the transaction syncs to the accounting system.
Receipt workflows for Canadian and UK businesses
Eligible Ramp accounts issued in Canada or the UK can use automated receipt-based tax coding without requiring Ramp Plus or Ramp Enterprise. The account must have an active accounting integration, tax codes enabled, and AI coding configured to auto-code the tax-code field.
For international purchases, Ramp also retains the original transaction currency and the card statement currency. That helps finance use the receipt alongside the settled transaction amount during reconciliation.
